Glazes

Stray Ceramics glazes are hand mixed and tested by Tayler Straziuso. The carefully selected color palette is inspired by our desert landscape. 

All glazes are non-toxic, food safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe, although we suggest hand-washing for longevity.

 

Pit Fired Work

Pit firing is the oldest known method for firing pottery, which dates back 30,000 years. Typically this is done in a hole in the ground, where pots are placed and burned. Modern day ceramicists use the pit firing method for the unique colors and patterns produced from this atmospheric process. Bisqued pots are placed in the pit and surrounded with combustible materials such as wood, salt, dried manure and metal oxides. The pit is then set ablaze and these items turn to vapor and swirl around the pots in the pit. Once the fire has reached about 1500° the pores in the clay open and accepts the colored vapor, which is what you see in the end result. Due to the relatively low temperatures in this type of firing, pit fired pots are meant to be admired and are not meant for food or water use. 

 

Shipping

All items will generally ship within 10 days of ordering. Shipping will be via USPS and a tracking number will be provided.

 

Returns

We have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. If you are not 100% happy with your order please contact me within 14 days of delivery so we can get you a Stray Ceramics piece that you are totally in love with. 

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.

If your return is accepted, we’ll send you a return shipping label, as well as instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted.

Damages and issues
Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is damaged or if you receive the wrong item, so that we can evaluate the issue and make it right. If your piece arrives damaged, please contact me immediately and be sure to take photo documentation of the box, packaging and damaged piece, so that I can file an insurance claim. 


Exceptions / non-returnable items
Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.


Exchanges
The fastest way to ensure you get what you want is to return the item you have, and once the return is accepted, make a separate purchase for the new item.


Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
